Introduction

The article “Quality Management and Job Quality: How the ISO 9001 Standard for Quality Management Systems Affects Employees and Employers” from the working paper which was published in 2010. The paper will give the review of the article which is based on quality management. Adopters of ISO had to face lower rates of death as compared to non adopters control group. Among existing employers, adopters of ISO had high growth rates for employment, sales, average annual earnings and payroll. Rates of injury decreased slightly due to adaptation of ISO 9001, though total costs of injury did not decline. These outcomes have inferences for managers of organization, public policies and theories (Levine & Toffel, 2010, Pp.1-28).

The sample for research was approximately 900,000 firms in almost 170 countries. These companies adopting the ISO 9001 standard of system of quality management. This figure is incredible which has given lack of accurate proof related to the effects of standard on the performance and practices of the organization. Implementation of such quality management system which matches with ISO 9001 standard includes training, documenting operating procedures, corrective action procedures and internal auditing (Levine & Toffel, 2010, Pp.1-28). Advocates assert that quality programs like ISO 9001 standard enhance both production processes and management practices and these improvements convert into increased employment and sales. Adoption of ISO 9001 standard and other quality programs are used and implemented for providing high quality services and products. Lastly, ISO 9001 standard can enhance the safety of workers bythe elimination as well as identification of potentially risky practices, institutionalizing of management and audits reviews and development of a proper remedial action process (Levine & Toffel, 2010, Pp.1-28).

The research reported that the initial large scale and significant empirical assessment of how worker's outcomes change with adoting ISO 9001 of employers, concentrating in specific on entire or overall payroll, employment, workplace safety and health and average annual earnings. The research has also examined the outcomes of significance to organization owners and managers such as whether standard of ISO 9001 is related to subsequent long term company survival and sales growth.
