Jewish Americans Background

The name of racial/ethnic group for the research is Jewish Americans. The number of group members of Jewish Americans living in the United States is 5.3 million. There percentage of population is 4%. The population growth rate of Jewish Americans is 9.7%. The birth rate of Jewish Americans is 308/1000. The infant mortality of them is 3.17/ 1000. Their life expectancy rate at birth is 1.5%. Furthermore, the total fertility rate of women is 2.9. The literacy ratio consists of English, Yiddish, and Hebrew. Among them, 80 % have college education, 60 % have college degree or higher. From 68% males and 56% females, 62% are full time and part time employees. The crime of Jewish Americans organized crime reappeared in recent years in forms of Israeli and Russian mafia criminal groups.

Jewish Americans and Economy

The numeric data shows a high employment percentage and it stands out from the rest because the employed individuals are high and there are promising job positions for them. When we focus on the Jewish policies it shows that many changes have been made regarding the employment of Jewish employees. The Jewish immigrants first arrived in 1600s while they arrived from late eastern and Western Europe in late 1800s. The women among them worked in domestic services and garment industries. They were paid with low wages although they worked very hard and in unsuitable environment. In considering these reasons the next Jewish generations were forced to work hard, parents forced their sons and daughters to work hard and in order to face the competition ad move up the economic ladder. The Jews from this generation because of high education proved to be successful. Some of them joined politics while others joined politics. The data of Jewish Population survey (2000-2001) revealed that 62% of Jewish population belonged to full or part time employment. Male population was in majority them the female population. The percentage of male was 68% while female employees were 56%. Among the percentage of male population, 59% males were already working in fields such as business, management while 41% worked as professionals and technicians. They comprised of Jewish workers. This statistics shows that Jewish American employees held white collar positions and were self employed. These statistics also denote that the value of the annual median income of the family was $ 54,000. This shows that less than 5% Jews households fall in the poverty category. These statistics also prove that majority of Jews have proved well in US economy. They have moved from blue collar jobs to white collar jobs, it is all because of their family values and personal efforts. Since the Jews have assimilated so well in the Jewish culture. The policies of the government have no effect on the Jewish employment as it was felt in 1800s.
