Introduction

Plagiarism is defined by many as a reckless and deliberate use of someone else's work, thoughts or ideas as one's own without any attribution connecting with the work submission. Since it is considered as cheating, students can be punished either with suspension or failure in a particular course. The reason behind this is that in any form of learning, the central aim is to understand someone's work and then elaborate it in the light of one's own understanding abilities (Pennycook, 1996).

The centrail aim of this paper is to identify the probable disadvantages of plagiarism and highlight how plagiarism is misunderstood as a means of writing these days. In the view of different articles related to plagiarism, this paper provides an argumentative view of how plagiarism is wrongly considered as something other than a crime commitment.

Something Borrowed- Malcolm Gladwell

This article is about how someone's untiring work could be easily copied and transformed while stealing the rights of the original author to gain credit for his/her work. The article is about a psychiatrist named Lewis, who has done a lot of work on the nature of serial killers and written various articles in regard to that. She got a call from her friend, who was fond of her research and writing, telling Lewis that one of the plays she watched reminded her of the work done by her (Gladwell, 2004).

The name of the play was 'Frozen', and it was selling like nothing. Lewis was also contacted by various other people, to whom the play reminded of her work. Therefore, Lewis went to see the play, and to her surprise, the play looked somewhat familiar. On hard thinking she realized that the entire play was a copy of one of her original works. This is one of the classical examples of plagiarism and how someone takes credit for someone else's work without even asking the original author. Later in this article, Lewis contacted a lawyer and filed a lawsuit against the copier. However, this is not always the case and many people simply copy and paste the work of others and earn treasures out of it unethically.
