Is it possible to see the world through the eyes of others?
Introduction
Anthropology is the scientific study of humankind; it strives for a comprehensive understanding of and proper appreciation for our species within the earth's history. As such, anthropology is grounded in the empirical facts of the special sciences and the logical argumentation of critical thought. Furthermore, scientific evidence is supplemented with rational speculation, especially when facts are lacking. Ongoing advances in science and technology continuously add new information to the growing discipline of anthropology, thereby strengthening some concepts and hypotheses, while modifying or dismissing others. However, socio-cultural anthropologists work closely with anthropological linguists in studying other societies with different cultures (particularly non-literate peoples with a “primitive” technology). One goal is to derive meaningful concepts and generalizations from the vast range of empirical evidence. The paper answers the query if we can see the world through the eyes of others or it is just our own thoughts and sight of the world.
Discussion
There are different dimensions to world and we which can only be seen if we things differently than we're used to, either by our culture and our family or that kind of innate moral preceding religions. We are surrounded by different visions that we have inherited or have been transmitted, and thus, we find it difficult to consider that things may not be as we see in a moment or a certain age. It is possible to see through others' eyes mainly because of different thoughts, and influences on mind. Individual is influenced by the culture, religion and the society in which he or she lives (Jones, 5). The environment and people around us influence our decision and we often try to look at things differently, and to an extent as others want us to see. Cultural anthropology methodologies are derived from various methodologies in order to understand the factors which are responsible for building human societies in the past and in the future. In other words, it is the comparative analysis of different cultures that shapes up a human society (Robbins, 14-20). A human society comprises of individuals who carry with themselves a specific culture, and according to that culture they live their life.
It is a human phenomenon that one cannot look at things entirely based on one's own thought processes. We have various forces that manipulate and create difference in our lives since our perceptions are determined by others' judgments. Context and expectations influence the perceptions and will be related according to the situation as it is an early response while updating a future event. Culture is an ennobling aspect that strengthens human nature in the sense that it defines standards of behavior and responses (Howes, 141-58). They are those personality traits that differentiate individuals while the perception is conditioned according to cultural system and the type of personality.
According to Robbins (1999), perception is a process by which individuals organize and interpret sensory impressions in order to make sense of the environment." The behavior of people is based ...
