In the words of Mother Teresa, “We are not social workers. We may be doing social work in the eyes of some individuals, but we must be contemplatives in the heart of the humanity”. I can see my own life in the reflection of these words. Social work is a line of interest for those who feel strong desire to help people in need. Social work support people to function and prosper in the best possible manner. This field often observes general problems of the society and always intends to take corrective actions for its solutions. Community workers frequently help those who are serious victims of social problems. These problems may take account of poor accommodation, joblessness, stern disease, disability, or drug exploitation. It also extends its efforts to support those that are going through with serious domestic violence and child abuse.
Social work is something which has always captured my attention from the time of my childhood. My interest has full-grown in this field and created a strong desire in me to work for my community. I volunteered at the Indiana State Mental Institute at the age of 16 and 17 years of age and at Geneva High School, teaching adults how to interpret subject matter of a particular topic. I also served myself as an assistant leader for the Cub Scout. I was working in the position of Nurse Care Manager with main Health Care Centers which incorporated nine states. My task was to make certain that patients had their medicine, taking medicine in the approved manner, arranging transport, checking in calls to make certain they had their electric bills paid.
