Introduction

The aim and objective of this paper is to conduct an interview of two persons who are a part of nursing management i.e. nurse manager and director of nursing. The interview will explain the role of director of nursing and highlight the main challenges which are being faced by them. Moreover, it will also focus on the achievements of nurses and the role of leadership in motivating them to work effectively and efficiently. Leadership has a great role to play in management nursing to perform the functions of administration and effective decision making by director of nursing. It integrates the general functions of management in the field of nursing such as, planning, organizing, controlling, directing and staffing. The role of effective management is pivotal in managing the administration in nursing. The requirement for the registered nurses is the qualification of “Doctor in Nursing Practice” or a degree of “Maters of Science in Nursing” to allow them to fulfill the role and responsibilities of leadership in nursing.

What are the qualifications for your management position?

A nurse manager needs to have a very strong background of academic education and numerous competencies. This should be monitored by director of nursing. The occupation of nurse manager requires, a qualification of Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Moreover, to become a registered nurse, one has to take the examination of NCLEX-RN, which is the National Council Licensure Examination- Registered Nurse. This exam is necessary for the nurses to be in management positions because top management positions require higher level of qualifications.
