Instructional Strategies with struggling students



Abstract

This paper aims to evaluate the strategies of the instructors that they use with the struggling students or the learners of the class. Questionnaire has been asked by different categories of the teachers. The categories are consisting of the age and the experiences of the teachers. The response rate of the questionnaire that has been used in this research is 75 %. It has been found through this research that the some strategies like oral presentation, alternative ways to demonstrate the learning, accommodate students with their writing skills or emotionally support to the students have worked and these strategies has helped the instructors to manage with the struggling students.

Statement of the problem

In every class there are some students who are struggling in the course or in the class. Since the core responsibility of the teacher is to make the students understand the course. The field of education has changed immensely in the past few decades. The reason behind this is that a number of new techniques and strategies have emerged which are being continuously used by instructors to help students in developing themselves. This research is dedicated towards understanding the different instructional and teaching skills which are practiced by teachers to help students in gaining better education whenever they face problems in their education. Moreover, a number of teachers have been surveyed in order to gain their insight regarding the different teaching techniques and how they could be used in helping students. In order to better understand about the research outcomes; and in depth discussion regarding the relevant factors is required. The instructor does not only have to teach bright students. There are some students in approximately every course who are struggling in the class. Instructors have to design a different strategy to help them so that they can learn the course and pass the course as well. Instructors in every course use different strategies to enhance the learning capacity of the learners. It has been observed that the teaching style of a teacher depends on its age and on the experience of the teacher. An instructor may be known to different strategies we will be discussing the different strategies which are required in help the struggling students (Crosnoe et.al, 2010).

What are the instructional strategies perceived to be effective by middle school teachers to help students with limited learning capabilities?

Literature Review

To help your student to overcome learning problems and make the most of student's strengths, you need to meet him in abilities and limitations, and speak openly with him about the problems observed.
