How 24th “Law of Power accommodates a designer? Would a designer, being a “creative,” try to fit in? Why, or why not?

The 24th law of power is a formal description of how a subordinate should behave in an organization. It gives a framework to the employee that would help him in gaining support and approval of his boss. All the points that are mentioned in the 24th law are enough to make a perfect subordinate that not only obeys the rule of the organization but also does not say a word against anything that he is asked to do. The law gives the person a capacity to work only. It makes a person immune to bad things so that there is no feeling of deprivation and disrespect even if the boss of the organization humiliates him in a way. It gives an individual a better insight of how one should act in an organizational setting.

The ones that are subordinates should just listen to their boss and say nothing unless they are in a position to bargain. It recommends not criticizing anyone that is above you because it is futile to do so as it only affects your own position in the organization (Greene, 2000). The ones that can adapt to what the 24th law suggests will become better subordinates. On the other hand, it is important to notice that the things that are mentioned in the law are not meant to be practiced by a designer. The first argument of the law suggests that one should not display himself too much before others. It is impossible for a designer to survive in an environment without exposing himself. The designers are creative individuals and they are the ones that would stand out of the ordinary crowd. It becomes impossible for them to avoid ostentation.

The designer cannot be modest because his creativity should be shown off to the world otherwise no one will be able to appreciate his efforts. The second argument or clause of the law suggests that one should not be casual because it can turn out to be harmful for them in the end. The designers, being creative, are meant to be casual because they do not act as subordinates. Creative people are casual because all they do is work in a direction regardless of the noise in their surroundings and care less about others. Their nonchalance helps them in getting the appreciation of the crowd.

The third clause of the law suggests that one should not talk sweet because it is harmful for them (Greene, 2000). On the other hand, flattery is the job of the designer. Talking less about what he does will never give him an exposure. It is always important for him to expose himself to the world and let people know what he has been doing.
