Information systems are changing the world due to their vast scope and applications. Information system is playing a vital role in globalizing the world; it is having a deep impact in every field of our society like health, medicine and various businesses like sales, marketing, manufacturing, production, finance, accounting, human resource and many others.

Information Systems and Globalization

Information systems and globalization are very closely related to each other as information system has globalized almost every type of business. Communication through wireless devices, which include computers, and mobile hand-held computing devices such as laptops and palmtops, are keeping employees and business professionals linked in every way possible. Cell phones, SMS service, video conferencing, and the internet are providing new and diverse lines of communication for all type of businesses (Castells Manuel, 1996). Through increased means of communication at low cost has increased customers demand in terms of service and product. E-commerce is also of worth importance as it has changed the way of doing business.

Information is a data which is changed into a format that can be easily understood by the user, the elements helping to accomplish this task may be software, hardware and others are all part of information system. An information system is primarily a group of different elements which are interconnected to each other; it helps in working in a certain work frame and can be the backbone of any organization as it helps in the accomplishing of various tasks like analysis, taking decisions, dealing with clients and many others. Information system also includes information technology; it helps in interacting with different elements of the system (Olugbode. M, 2008)

Above figure describes the major components of an information system. People include administrators, managers, technicians, end users, consumers and others. Software includes system data base and operating system network, its main function is to convert data into information. Data is unprocessed facts and figures which need to be processed. Procedures are basically rules to be followed when using computer applications; it may include standards, access protocols, guidelines and specifications. Hardware is the physical part of a computer and is usually controlled by software, and it includes keyboard, mouse, monitor etc.

Information systems are becoming essential for all types of business because in this fast moving and very competitive environment business professionals want their business to lead; that is why information system is very essential for saving time, increasing profit, operational excellence, improved decision making and launching new products and business models (Askenas.L,2003).
