Introduction

This paper focuses on the inequality of gay marriage. Inequality of gay marriages refers to the problem faced by same gender to get married. If we talk about U.S, Same-sex partners do not have equal possibility to marry. The relationship of same-sex partners is not recognized by some religious institutes or the state. Inequality of gay marriages means that the same-gender partners do not get legal rights and benefits that normal couples receive as soon as they get married. Example of this inequality can be seen as the law says that gay partners can not file taxes jointly. Gay partners cannot even sponsor each other for the purpose of getting immigration. According to Partners Task Force for Gay & Lesbian Couples (2000), Gay partners cannot include each other on medical insurance policies (Reus and Blume. 2011). The paper will include the sociological point of view along with the conflict sociological perspective of sociology on the gay marriages inequality.

This paper defines the issue of inequality in gay marriages with the sociological view and conflict view of sociology. It includes the arguments of all stakeholders who are in favor and against the same-sex marriages. The issue of gay marriages can be seen as one of the most debatable issues from many past decades.

Discussion

Same-sex marriages recognition produces debate on federal and state levels. The marriage of the same sex group is either legislatively or judicially legal in seven states around the globe. There are many countries that restrict marriages to one male and one female. The first state to legalize the marriages of the same gender is Massachusetts (Smith, 2012).

In the 21st century, it is witnessed that eleven countries have allow the marriage of same-sex partners. These countries include Netherlands, Canada, Belgium, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Iceland, Argentina, South Africa, Denmark and Norway. Apart from these countries, some parts of United States, Brazil and Mexico also allow the marriage of same-sex partners. There are other countries like New Zealand that have pending laws to legalize the marriage of same-sex partners. In many nations around the globe, the issue of same-sex marriage is considered to be a political, religious, social and human rights issue. The debates over same-sex marriage are increasing day by day in all nations around the world. A conclusion is yet to be drawn to answer the following questions:

•Should the marriages of same-sex couples be allowed?

•Should the individuals of same-sex couples be treated as married?

•Should federal governments give recognition to couples who belong to the same genders?

Sociological view point

A social perspective is the combined view of the people around the world. It takes into account the world we are unfamiliar with and gives a new look at familiar ones. Sociological perspective is a motivating factor in the lives of many people. It examines the influence of groups on people and how societies influence their people (Henslin, 2007).
