Q1. Who are the project stakeholders? How will they be involved in the project?

The project stakeholders are those individuals or organizations that may be affected by the project completion or execution. They have the authority in the project because of the political support or financial contribution for the project. They are mainly involved in the project for their benefits, thus the outcome of the project affects them (positively and negatively). It is the duty of the project manager to identify the stakeholder of the project, as project managers are responsible for knowing what stakeholders expects from the project. Project managers are also assigned with duty to manage the influence of each stakeholders associated with the project so that the project can be successful. The stakeholders for this project can be the investors who are looking to make money by investing in the idea phase of the product. The involvement of these stakeholders will not be limited to financial contribution only, their suggestion regarding product enhancement would also be welcomed (Anbari, 2005).

Q2. Who should be the project sponsor?

The sponsor of the project would be an entity that would not only provide financial resources but also champions the project. The sponsor would not serve as the spokesperson for the project, but serves as a growth path, play a key role in the initial development and guide the project through selection process. The sponsors would be involved in making high risk decision, reviews, and will be involved in authorizing change. It is wise to the sponsor for this product from the marketing department, as they would know where to look for appropriate resources to back the project. They would also have a clear idea about how to negotiate with the upper management team and the project manager about the project (Project Management Institute (COR), 2008).

Q3. From which department should the project manager come? Why?

The project manager for this project should belong to a production department. As the design of the product has already been developed, therefore, a PM would be needed further phases of the project. A PM would be very vital in the production department through marketing department. This would help to attain customer satisfaction and customer loyalty (Melton, 2007).
