Introduction

This individual Portfolio consists of four main sections. The first section of this portfolio discusses the literature review in detail. In this, review a comparison and a contrast about the topic of recruitment with respect to the various types of recruitment. As per the requirements, this discussion mainly focuses upon one method of recruitment, which is the external form of recruitment.

The second section of this report would include a five hundred description of the tasks performed by my group and me, along with the necessary evidences of these team tasks are included in the appendixes section of this portfolio. The third section of this portfolio includes an accumulation of the 'Traffic Light' reflective aid, where with utmost sincerity I have filled these assessment sheets highlighting my own evaluation of personal strengths and weaknesses of working in a team. The final section of this portfolio provides a critical discussion of the self-evaluated strengths and weaknesses of working in a team. This discussion would also highlight a detailed description of the additional research, personally undertaken by me too acquire and learn more about my shortcomings and how well may I improve them myself.

Section 1: Literature Review

Introduction

This section, aims to discuss under many headings about recruitment with special focus on its aspect of external recruitment. Two main scholarly views are discussed in contrast with other supporting views and definitions, in order to make the discussion rich with appropriate facts and information. In addition, this literature would further evaluate the two main views in order to find the implications that an organization might face, based on the discussion of these two main views.

Werbal et al (2008) View

Explaining Recruitment

This section in detail will discuss about 'Recruitment'. To begin with, many scholars and credible resources define recruitment differently. To simply state recruitment is defined as a process of hiring the right candidate for the right job at the right time (Werbal et al, 2008 and www.cipd.co.uk, 2012).

In addition, recruitment is the process, which helps business organizations to find the right job applicants through reviewing their applications and reviewing their credentials in detail. Ensuring diligence in this process helps finding the right candidates who are experiences, skilled and can adjust with a business organizational culture effectively. This is essential for a business performance, as this critical activity is not only essential or in domain of the Human Resources department if the organization, but is also important for all the line managers of different departments in an organization. In addition, this recruitment process involves planning and following the different processes such as defining the role of the candidate who would be hired, ensuring that this hiring need is communicated in an effective manner to attract great pool of applicants. The management and monitoring of the application and selection process is another poignant stage involved in the recruitment process, along with the last stage of confirmation of the chosen candidate.
