Introduction

In order to promote the continuous development at St-Patrick's Nursing Home, it is important to improve the practices of human resource department. Human resource department plays a very significant role in the overall performance of the organization. The hiring and recruiting process human resource department is one of the major responsibilities of the department on which the success of the company depends. In order to improve the organizational performance, it is very important to focus on this department and strategies must be implemented to enhance the practices of human resource department.

Legislative and Policy Frameworks Influencing the Process of Recruitment

The selection, recruitment and employment of individuals in UK is influenced by employment policy & legislation employment relations act 2004, employment policy & legislation employment act 2002, the race relation act 1976 and the race relation act (Torrington et al., 2008). These legislations are designed to manage the dispute resolution in the workplace, improve the procedures and practices involved in the employment tribunals and ensure pay questionnaires with equity (Fowler, Hannigan, and Northway, 2000).

Sex discrimination act mentions the job candidates mostly face three types of discrimination i.e. direct discrimination, indirect discrimination and victimization. When someone is treated more or less favorably on the basis of gender, marital discrimination or racial origin then direct discrimination occurs when a candidate is treated unfairly for some requirements that are not directly related to any specific group then indirect discrimination occurs. These legislatives and policy frameworks play their effective role in preventing discriminations in St-Patrick's Nursing Home when maintained strictly (Evans, and Killoran, 2000).

Approaches to Ensure the Selection of the Best Individuals in St-Patrick's Nursing Home

There are a few most appropriate approaches that must be taken to ensure the best selection of candidates in St-Patrick's Nursing Home. These methods include conducting interview, candidates' assessment center and test and knowing about their references. The first and the most important step in selecting the best candidate is interview, interview is the foundation of the recruitment process that helps in analyzing the aptitude, qualification and efficiency of the candidate. On the basis of an interview, an interviewer can easily judge and decide that either the candidate is suitable for St-Patrick's Nursing Home or not. During interview, many informal questions can often be asked that can help in accessing the candidate's caliber. A confident candidate must be preferred (Huxham, and Vangen, 2005).
