Abstract

Human resource management is one of the most important functions of an organization. It performs many types of activities which are important for the growth of organization. It has the responsibility of aligning the skills, abilities and capabilities of individuals with the needs of organization. It also has the responsibility of analyzing the profiles, skills, capabilities and the qualifications of individuals with the requirements of organization. Apart from the main functions, HR is also responsible for activities such as recruitment and selection and also works for optimum utilization of human resources. The leadership of human resource is also responsible for advising the top management on various issues regarding the organization and human capital.

Human resource management is considered to be a very important function in an organization because the employees play an important role in the achieving the objectives and goals of organization. It also aligns the skills of employees with current and future needs of organization and utilizes these skills in achieving the desired goal. HRM is responsible for analyzing the profiles, abilities, skills, capabilities and qualifications of the employees and assign them different responsibilities according to the requirements of the jobs and the profiles of employees. HRM also facilitates training and retaining employees. It not only focuses on the present organizational objectives but also finds out the future needs of the organization for developing the strategies according to the future requirements (Pande, 2011). It is considered as an important function in an organization and performs a number of important activities which are as:

The human resource department needs to identify the needs of the employees and work on them to make them feel motivated and important by giving them training that is related to their field of interest (Pande, 2011).

Organizational Goals

In order to understand and define the goals and objectives of the organization, it is important to align the skills of employees with the mission statement of the company for encouraging them to achieve the objectives of organization. It not only focuses on the current requirements of organization but also forecasts the needs of the organization and develops strategies for meeting those needs.

Training and Development

It is the job of HRM to ensure proper availability of methods and tools for training the employees on the basis of their respective competencies. It also identifies the areas that need training and tries to meet those needs by using the available training tools.
