Unit 1 - Assignment 1 Survey of Human Resource Management

History of the Discipline

The Human Resource Organization selected for the assignment is International Public Management Association for Human Resource (IPMA-HR). The organization is basically run and governed by a 14 person executive council, which is run by the elected president. However, there are three different types of the presidents in this process. One is the president that will be elected, president and the past president. In addition and support for the president, there are different numbers of the committee and tasks members who are responsible for running the different programs of the organization. IPMA-HR head office is in Alexandria, Virginia. The association was developed in 1906; therefore, one could say that the company is more than 100 years old. The organization is basically a non-profit, educational organization, whose main purpose was to help the students to foster and develop their skills in the public human resource management. IPMA core purpose is to provide assistance and resources for the human resource professionals' at all different levels in the public sector (History, 2013). IPMA-HR represents around more than 9000 individuals and hold 1100 agencies in local, state and even at the federal level. At the local level, IPMA-HR main role is to provide assistance in the development and growth of the personnel administration and at the most significant level, it assist in strengthen the organization in the International Public Management Association.

Requirement for Education and Experience

The education and experience requirement in IPMA-HR is quite simple because the organization basically deals in providing training and development to promote a continuous learning and development to the future generation organization. Therefore, the individuals selected by the organization are competent and expert in Human Resource Management. The eligible criteria for getting a post in IPMA-HR is a graduate level degree, with two years of experience in HR and also one year experience of working in the Public sector organization (Certification, 2013).

Certification

The certification program is mentioned on the website and as per the organization, IPMA-Certified Professional program is run by the organization. The certification is for all those human resource who had knowledge and experience in the field of the Human Resource Management. The experience required for the certification should be obtained on the professional or on the managerial level in any of the public or private organization. Whereas, on the education side, one should posses the bachelors degree, with 2 years experience, which include one year experience of working in public sector organization (Benefits, 2013). The reason behind the public sector organization is as mentioned earlier that IPMA inclined towards training the public sector professional in Human Resource Management.

Specialty of the Organization

The specialty of the organization is to develop and enhance the partnership of trust between the different associations and the IPMA.
