The case study by the title of 'The Floundering Expatriate' is a quite renowned case of issues regarding the international market place and when the leaders and the businesses go beyond the cultural and physical boundaries, but still remain unsuccessful in adapting to cultural essentials (Javidan, Dorfman, De Luque, & House, 2006). This paper presents the analysis and answers the questions mentioned at the end of the case study.

The questions answered in this paper demand a brief over view of the case study. The case study environs the incidents of a globalization attempt by a holdings company based in the U.S by the name of Argos International. Bill Loun, who is the Chief Executive Officer of the company, is acknowledged as an emerging corporate celebrity in Detroit who feels that Bert Donaldson, who is a new executive, will be an ideal person to help smooth the progress of communication amid lately acquired European divisions. The resume of Bert Donaldson was quite remarkable. Donaldson was an American studies professor in Egypt for five years and when he was in the U.S. he made possible significant developments to the structure of the organization through the implementation of the cross functional teams, accomplished significant reductions in costs, and much more. Furthermore, he was quite sharp, a hard worker, charismatic, and a proven leader in the organization in the United States. Bill (CEO) recognized the requirement of such a can-do person within Zurich (Adler, et.al, 1995).
