Introduction

The organizations today are focusing more towards training and development to compete in the aggressive, ever growing, and competitive business markets. Training and development is playing a huge role in building the organizations and changing the old school ideas that focused solely on getting the work done and earning profits. Like many organizations working internally, the business which are operating in the GCC countries are also focusing on the important of training and bringing about change in their strategic view of the business. The thesis will provide an overview of the effectiveness of training in the organizational development in the context of the examples of companies operating in the GCC countries. The major focus will be on Kuwait Finance House.

Training is a planned activity based on the real needs of a business or organization, whose goal is the positive change in knowledge, skills and attitudes of the organization as a whole (Cummings,Worley,2009). Organizational development arises as planned change that occurs in the company or organization, in order to improve the quality of relationships and development of employees, from techniques, tools or interventions that cause the support for various objectives.

Initially, the focus of the organization was to work under the existing resources and the training, thus earning profits under a specific domain. However, the concept of organizational training and development was established. In the context of training and learning, the cognitivists, the humanists, and behaviorists focus on various aspects of teaching earning process in their approaches (Bunker,Alban,Lewicki,2004,403-422). As the behaviorists stress the environment that brings about changes in the observations, the cognitivists are concerned about how the mind works. On the other hand, the humanists emphasized the emotions and attitudes of learning. According to Cummings,Worley, (2009) in the collaborative view of these theories, effective training needs to be able to take care of all the learning theories to change the belief, actions and knowledge of a trainee. Thus the research problem that this thesis will focus on relates to the need and effectiveness of training in the GCC organizations.

Research Problem

Today, the field of organizational development is influenced by the globalization of the world's economy and the technology growth. It is being carried out in many countries especially in the GCC countries. An important factor that the GCC companies need to realize is to adapt themselves to the technologies that are being used in many organizations and that are rejuvenating their work processes. The field of organizational training and development continues to develop the new theories, practices and researcher who continue the work of early pioneers and apply these programs to the contemporary global issues and conditions.
