BP plc as known internationally in a firm which is associated with the elements and configurations of the oiling and other energy resources. It is a multinational company based with the British foundation having the headquarters within London, United Kingdom. With the help of its revenues and productive affiliations, the organization has managed to get the top most rankings among the world's largest oil and gas companies. Being such big of a name within the industry, ironically BP holds a record which is not as efficient enough for the cause of its reputation as a company.
In 1991, BP was named as the most polluting company that was found within the records of US based EPA toxic release data information. The fatal explosion which the company was responsible for in March, 2005 broke the clean air act and because of the same reason the United States Department of Justice announced that BP was supposed to pay allocated charges as well as violation fee for the accident. Under the clean air act, the amount which BP had to pay was about $500 million as a criminal fine, the largest ever recorded and accessed (www.lsureveille.com).
