EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This paper focuses on the tourism industry in Libya and analyzes different dimensions of crisis in the country that affect the tourism industry. The crisis in Libya significantly influences the tourism industry of the country. The environment of the country along with safety measures are the factors that influence the tourist to choose a country for their visit. According to different studies incorporated in the literature of this study, it can be interpreted that there are several historical sites, structures and places that influence the tourist to select Libya for their visit. In addition, the religious tourism is an added advantage for the tourism industry of the country. Nonetheless, the crisis in Libya deteriorates the tourism industry of the country. The government of the country has initiated different measures and adapted diverse strategies to strengthen the tourism industry of the country. It is essential for Libya to revive its tourism industry as it significantly contributes to its GDP. However, the crisis of the country has affected the industry by incepting fear in the minds of the target market. The tourists do not grade Libya as a safe site to spend their vacation of leisure visits. In addition, the investments in the country have also declines due to which the corporate tours to the country have also diminished. This paper focuses on the data gathered from semi-structured interviews and diverse literature in order to analyze the effect of crisis on Libyan tourism. The paper analyzes diverse information to propose certain strategies to the government through which the government can revive tourism industry in Libya. Moreover, the paper also suggests corporate strategies that are also considered significant ingredients for improving the tourism conditions in Libya. The findings of the study can be used by other studies in the field of hospitality and tourism as it suggests coping strategies during turbulent times.
