The thesis statement is about the homeland security of the United States which exhibits an arguable and debatable claim. The Department of Homeland security in United States of America is aimed for the purpose of securing the nation from various threats that affect the country. The objective of the department is to provide protection and maintain a safe and secure environment in the United States of America. United States is one of the fastest growing countries and with the best economies in the world, this is the reason it faces potential threats to its security. Global War on Terrorism is a contributing factor to the treats faced by the US. Although the government is spending enough on the defense sector, however, it needs more efforts to manage the threats effectively.

The main focusing point in the thesis statement actually describes about the Homeland Security and its roles and how the prevalent issue can be solved in the country. The Department itself is a huge department which can be reflected from the number of employees and operations that are being served with around 240000 employees, who are dedicated to protect the border for emergency responses. The department is also responsible for dealing with cyber securities, aviation, and some other associated activities. It is a cabinet department under the federal government of the United States of America.

The department is categorized into many subdivisions which are further divided into different fields, in order to increase the effectiveness. The responsibilities range from investigations in border security, disaster management to warfare, and federal law enforcement to cyber security, which are all under the same cabinet. The strategy to bring a broad range of areas under the Department of Homeland Security is very effective, however; it can be enhanced to bring the management out of various complexities. The structure of the Department of Homeland Security creates inefficiency. The trouble comes up from a span of power that is too large and extended in many disciplines.

The department was created, in response to the 9/11 attack with a primary motive of protection of state against terrorist activities and attacks. After 9/11, U.S. senate approved a bill which launches an outline for the analysis of overseas possessions of United States resources by the “Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS)”. George W. Bush, after the 9/11 attacks created the Homeland Security Act (HSA). It stumbles upon as the leading federal government organization. The Department of Homeland Security works to ensure the safety and protection of the assets and citizens of the State. Their responsibilities include counterterrorism, border security, immigration, cyber security and the preparedness, response and recovery of after disaster effects. Homeland Security is the term used for the efforts a State make to maintain its security level and ensure a peaceful and terror-free environment in the country.
