Like the setting of the story which is at a railway station, so is the relationship between the two main characters which appears at a cross road ready to wither away in discord. The girl is beset within an inner struggle to decide on whether to have the baby or not and this contrast in her choices resembles the white hills and the barren valley which highlight the concepts of life and death.
