The primary responsibility of healthcare organizations is to improve the health of patients suffering from illness and diseases. They have been conducting this work since ages. However, the present situation calls for adequate measures to be taken in order to prevent such diseases. The first priority to achieve this task as determined by several healthcare organizations is to sanitize their healthcare infrastructure so that patients may not get infected during their visit to the facility.

There is a debate going on among organizations whether or not it is their responsibility to develop disease prevention strategies. This debate is valid since the primary goal of these facilities is to treat patients and not to come up with prevention strategies. My personal experience of a healthcare facility in my area is that this facility provides booklets to patients and visitors on various precautions that should be taken in order to reduce the probability of some common health problems. It would be beneficial if other organizations do the same.

The introduction of disease prevention strategies for healthcare facilities is a costly matter and therefore many do not prefer it. However, there are people who think it as a part of the society; they should introduce some policies and recommendations so that the overall health of the society can be improved.

People argue that it is the ethical responsibility of healthcare organizations to perform this task. But the claim these organizations have are that treating and caring for patients is already an ethical task being performed by them therefore, it should not be mandatory for them to carry out this task (Cappelli & Mobley, 2008).
