Task 2 - Understand models of health promotion

2.1 Analyze the links between government strategies and models of health promotion

In The U.K., studies conducted since the 1980s point to the fact that the policies with regards to health promotion are based on institutions and ideas that are mobilized around these very issues (Zenzano et.al, 2011). Based on this understanding, this research effort seeks to relate the formation of the health sector and the health problems associated with the creation of a public authority and, more instrumentally, with the emergence of centralized state agencies to address these problems, analyze the intended transformation of a collective good health and / or public whose production requires the creation voluntary or coercive collective arrangements (Power et.al, 2007). Therefore, it is important to indicate both the historical character of collectivization well - in this case, health becomes public - like its close association with the creation of public power and penetration throughout the territory of the country, materialized through administrative structures and employees who provide services to the population (Oliver, 2001).

In this sense, I suggest that the formation of the state interacts strongly, among other things, but also to the transformation of healthcare in a public good that requires increasingly public, and compulsory national responses (Samuel, 2000). This is a process of transformation in the treatment of deficiencies and human differences, which were initially individual care, then became collective - but voluntary, community and local character - and eventually became the state care (O' Donnell, 2009).

2.2 Explain the role of professionals in meeting government targets for health promotion

Psychologists who have dedicated themselves to promoting health have achieved recognized success in modifying habits such as smoking, exercise, diet following balanced, reduce the consumption of alcohol or control stress (Stuckler et.al, 2011). Psychologists have also offered contributions specific theoretical or applied to healthcare. Many of these trends have emerged in recent years; many studies trying to explain the role of variables and psychosocial processes in prevention, treatment and maintaining health behaviours, as well as psychological adjustment to illness, physical disability or other forms of victimization (Pereira et.al, 2007).

Psychological theories and models have been excelling in aiding to explaining and modifying behavioural health. In 1986, Taylor's book with the title of Health Psychology cites the Model Health Beliefs and the Theory of Reasoned Action as important theories to the area. Ten years later, another book of the same title (Ogden, 1996) devotes Chapters of the Health Belief Model, Health Locus of Control Theory of the Protection Motivation Theory and Planned Action. In Conner and Norman (1996) the whole work is dedicated models of social cognition: Belief Model Health, Health Locus of Control, Theory and Motivation to the protection, Theory of Planned Action and Theory Self-Efficacy. In the U.K., a group of psychologists met their research on Belief Model Health, the theory of reasoned action, the theory of Self Experiential cognitive, the theory of Self-Efficacy, the Model of Health Promotion and Locus of Control ...
