Introduction

The assignment is based on understanding the key concepts that revolve around the social and health care services. It discusses the principles and theories of the services within the UK. The assignment also aims to explore the applicability of principles and procedures that protect the clients from harm. It also discusses the advantages of utilising a person-centred approach in providing care services to the clients. The additional outcomes discussed in this assignment are ethical issues, applicable policies, legislation issues and regulation and the impacts of existing policies that relate to the social and health care. In this regard, the changes in rules and regulations at local levels are also discussed. This enables the health and social care practice to protect the clients from discrimination. Also the assignment helps in understanding theories, social processes and professional roles involved in care delivery.

According to General Social Care Council (GSCC) Code of Practice, a framework is established that defines what the social and health workers must do. This framework proposes that workers must

Make efforts to create trust and understanding with the service users.

Protect the service users from any potential harm and at the same time promote the autonomy of service users.

Respect the service users and ensure delivery of all basic rights. The behaviour of workers should not harm the users.

Understand the accountability and responsibility for their actions. They should also provide quality work and strive to improve their knowledge and skills at regular basis.

1.1 Principles of Support Application

The application of these core values and support principles requires ensuring the proper care of individuals regarding health and social care. The application of such support principles can be implemented by providing equity in the social and health care provision. It can also be achieved by maintaining universality in the accessibility of such services. It is also important that multiple financial options are provided to the individuals irrespective of their background so that they can avail these services (National Health Services 2012). As the population of UK comprises of the people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, meeting the needs of these individuals is of key concern.
