Current Priorities and Approaches

The main priority is the improvement in the healthcare settings. Improvements in both quality and efficiency will also drive health information technology in the future. Quality improvements and efficient service delivery are being demanded by a sophisticated consumer base (Acorn, 2006, p. 12). As technology continues to reduce the redundant nature of modern medicine, the clinical and interpersonal aspects of the patient-provider relationship will see improvement. This includes the facilities where treatment is rendered, processes used in treatments and efficiency of care. Evidence based diagnosis will also have a circular impact on the HIS in the next 30 years (Brennan, 2001, p. 456).

Relationship between the prevalence of disease and requirements of services

There is a strong relationship between the prevalence of disease and requirements of services in order to support individuals within the health and social care provisions (Acorn, 2006, p. 12). There are different chronic diseases that affect the people. These diseases are mainly the Alzheimer, Parkinson, Coronary Heart Disease and Cancer (Acorn, 2006, p. 12). The affected people of such diseases are in real need of medical help and services. The relationship between the prevalence of diseases and requirements of services has been greatly enhanced. The main reason is that the number of affected people overall the world is increasing day by day. The rate of diseases is continuously increasing across the globe; therefore, the need for the medical services is also increasing parallel to these diseases (Kleinke, 2002, p. 45). Therefore, it is fair enough to say that the relationship between the prevalence of diseases and requirements of services is parallel and equivalent.

Impact Of Current Lifestyle Choices

With so many rapid changes in technology and service delivery options, it is an expectation that government regulation will undoubtedly affect the industry, as well (Acorn, 2006, p. 12). For example, in cases where telemedicine may be used, new regulations and standards must address the accountability of a provider even though the treatment may be rendered remotely (Acorn, 2006, p. 12). As, it relates to biotechnology, as research yields the pros and cons of a given treatment, the government will have to produce standards and guidelines of care to ensure standardization and optimal care and delivery. Although some argue that government regulations will only create an unneeded obstacle, it is a necessary that a system of oversight is there to ensure the continued safety of patients (Day, 2009, p. 12).

Following are the basic health and well being priorities for individuals in the health and social care setting:

Having identified the basic needs in health, satisfying and the real possibility of social participation.

Develop educational programs that teach health naturally and planned, without forcing the contents.

Provide fairness in every action (Acorn, 2006, p. 12).
