Abstract

This paper aims to explore the concept of healing practices in the perspectives of different religions of the world. The paper will discuss the diverse healing practices of different faiths and then will compare these findings to the Christianity beliefs on healing practices.

Introduction

Spiritual Healing is a completely natural process that contributes to the improve health. This makes the transmission of spiritual energy through the healer to the patient. This process of re-energizing supplies energy to the patient, so that its natural resources are excited to enable coping with illness or injury in the best way.

Spiritual Healing can help in a variety of physical, mental, spiritual and emotional ailments, sometimes at an astonishing degree. It turns out that the medical diagnosis of the ailment is not relevant to the outcome. This paper will discuss the perspectives of three different religions on the healing practices. In the end, all of these perspectives of the three religions will be compared to the perspectives of Christianity. Being a nurse practitioner, I have to provide the answers to the following questions:

Passion: I am here to learn new things relevant to my field which is nursing. I want to learn the healing practices of the people having different faiths.

Motivation: The aim of my life is to be a successful nurse practitioner who needs to be close to the people he is caring or treating. Therefore, this aim of my life has encouraged me to learn the different practices of the people of different religions.

Inspiration: The aim of my life keeps me in motivation to learn about the different perspectives of healing.

Loyalty: I am going to serve the people of this country. The country has people from diverse cultures or religions. Therefore, to be loyal to my profession, I should learn about all of the differences these people have.

Buddhism

Spiritual Perspective on Healing

The Buddhist understanding of good health is similar with its emphasis on the balanced interaction between mind and body, and between life and its environment. In treatment of the disease, however, Buddhism does not reject, in any way, modern medicine and powerful collection of diagnostic and therapeutic tools that are available. Rather, it says that this toolkit can be a more effective in fighting the disease when it is based on a deeper understanding of the internal processes and subjective life and is reinforced by it (Payutto, 1999).

Critical Components of Healing, Such as Prayer, Meditation, Belief, etc

A Buddhist can use the image, the presence and power of a spiritual blessing or a deity, as the Buddha. Others rely on the contemplation of God or a sacred image in accordance with their personal beliefs. Healing meditations for relief and resolution of negative karma and to strengthen the strong compassion in us at the same time keep the body healthy. Meditation and cleansing exercises are also consistently performed in the normal daily life of a person.
