Abstract

This study was conducted to find out the need for research and investigation of gender discrimination in work place, author is willing to know why women disadvantage in the work place and are being discriminated in every aspect. At workplace inequality against women has become universal. This study will basically investigate this issue and will determine the reasons and causes of such discriminations. The issues still and have surrounded women in the workplace. Women were at disadvantage when it came to compete with men. Therefore this paper highlights some of these issues.

Introduction

At workplace inequality against women has become universal. The purpose of this study is to observe the signs of the gender conflict in a work place, and why women disadvantage in a workplace. As per the recent researches the gender gap is still alive world wide in work place. This disparity between the women and men is the subject of recent studies. Conflict is something that is familiar to an individual's daily life. It can happen in school, family, work place, and other places. It is known to be a part of work. It is a disagreement that results from a group or individuals because they have different needs, beliefs, values and attitude (Roos, 1981).

In work place the conflict is one of the huge issues for the employers and managers to face, the cause of which is numerous. If we take a look at women and men who possess different work positions today and around one hundred years ago we would see differences without doubts. Years ago, the positions that were especially for men, now has become more equal for both women and men. In history the role of women used to be of performing duties in a household or raising a child. But in the modern era, the women of today desire a career and a superior place in this world. They aspire to become self sustaining individuals, wanting to stand on their feet and mainly becoming independent. But still the women in every career strive to gain equality in work place. Many issues, conflicts and discriminations arise in the work place among genders. When it comes to competing with a man the women are at disadvantage. For years the discrimination of women in workplace has been feed by gender bias (McTavish & Miller2009).

Therefore this paper will examine the need of researching this issue and why is this issue worthy of examining. It will also highlight the factors that will help to prevent this conflict and discrimination among genders.

Discussion

It usually makes a huge difference in a workplace if an individual is a man or a woman.
