Managing Conflict in Workplace

Introduction

In this study, I will talk about conflict management. To be more specific, I will talk about the role of feelings and causes of conflicts in workplace environments.

Feelings and Causes of Conflicts

As we all know, there are thousands kinds of conflict which happens around us almost anytime. In order to identify them and handle them, the first step is to understand the role of feelings or emotions behind conflict and then causes of conflict, such as communication failure, substandard performance, goal differences, methodological differences, personality conflict, value differences, non-compliance with rules, lack of co-operation, differences regarding authority, differences regarding responsibility and competition over resources. While conducting an interview with the CEO of an international firm, I came to realize that conflict management is a common issue for all business men. It is taking place frequently. As I asked CEO that how you feel conflict management is a serious concern for your organisation. CEO said, it is a natural feeling exist in all humans.

Feelings of Co-workers

Today, many co-workers feel that they are becoming a part of conflicts in their organisations. One main cause of such feeling is personal behaviour which is quiet natural. Though people need to communicate with all other types of person, sometimes they still feel very difficult to do it very good because of different personality. Some people some very conventional; some are unconventional. Because of this difference, the way they feel conflicts could be absolutely different. When they work together to solve a conflict, their different feelings may cause the conflict.

Some people like to do things in the ways which they like and do not consider other people's feeling; some people like do things which do not follow the rules. These people always make conflict because of non-compliance. For instance, during a meeting or ...
