Entrance and acceptance of gays into the military is increasing throughout the world, but this is no way testifies towards the success that these nations as military power may enjoy. In fact, more than of a help, allowing the gays to serve in the military will hamper the military's capability at fighting combat missions, apart from putting its discipline at a profound risk. As this debate rages across the United States, the American society finds itself split between two groups; one which supports the inclusion of gays into the military, while the other that does not. Many threats exist from the mere presence of gays in the military such as the rapid spread of H.I.V disease, declining morale and discipline among the troops.
As far as these threats are concerned, the U.S military has so far been out right in continuing with its ban of not allowing gays to serve in the army. However, those who favor allowing the gays to serve in the military are not without reasons either. What remains to be seen is that whether this conflict would be resolved through negotiations. Both the parties need to reach an accord by subjecting each other's motives and demands to suitable adjustment that would allow a proper accommodation to be made. However, though many would like this to happen, yet it seems that the two sides would hardly budge away from their stance in any way.

Argument Statement "Allowing gays to serve in the military will hamper the military's capability to fight combat missions".
Gay marriage, gay rights or gay's admission in the military has been a hot debate all along the course of U.S history. This is because the American society has been able to conform itself to just one aspect of close relationship whether that be of a boyfriend-girlfriend or man-woman marriage. Relationships especially physical ones are held to be only between a man and a woman. Gays have received a lot of recognition worldwide, including the right to marry in the same sex in countries like Norway, Canada, Sweden, Argentina and Iceland. However, in America, this topic has raised with it several conflicts which are religious, moral, social, political, and civil. Release of census Bureau in 2011 states that there are 131,729 same-sex married couples in the United States. While on the other hand, there are about 514,735 unmarried same-sex partners living under one roof (www.census.gov). This suggests that the gays are increasingly becoming an integral part of the American society. Even though many states have now given privileges to the gays, yet the situation in the military is far from different.
