Future Career in Nursing

Introduction

Nursing as a profession has developed immensely within the past century. Moreover, it cannot be debated that it is one profession which is still evolving rapidly and in the next twenty to thirty years or so it will revamp itself entirely. This prediction will moreover hold true due to new technologies, insurance as well as healthcare policies and new drugs being continuously introduced in the field of science and medicine.

Discussion

Factors like employability promise more jobs in this profession due to the critical shortage of nurses while looking at the current economical conditions of not only the United States but the whole world make it even more sought-after. Servitude which offers each nurse to hold the mental and physical fate of individuals is in itself a great reward; it allows anyone and everyone working in this capacity to bring some positive benefit to mankind (Berman et al, 2008). This has been shown to us by many great nurses of the past one of whom has taught the whole of mankind a great lesson of caring, forgiveness, duty and holistic thinking, Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa taught us that nursing is not only a job, rather it is a duty to give yourself over to the betterment of the society as well as the fact that nursing does not only pertain to caring for the sick in hospitals, clinical or outpatient settings. Rather it is a daily effort which allows for each nurse to be responsible for his or her immediate environment and the people who inhabit it; making this aspect one of the most important duties of the job (Stone, 1999).
