Introduction

United Kingdom (UK) is the hub for the international students seeking quality education. These students are from almost all regions of the globe. These students face many problems while studying the UK. The main problem for these students is the language barrier, which results in the hardships to students such as grammar problems, communication barriers due to the lack of knowledge regarding English as an international language. These students usually have little fluency, and so they countenance lack of confidence during the interaction with their fellow students. Here for this assignment, I interviewed a girl called Monika from Bulgaria. She learned English in school, but only words not grammar. I would like to focus on her fluency and her stress on the definite article 'the'. Sentence rhythm presents a problem for instance learners often pronounce the slower 'strong ' forms of words like as ,than ,of, instead of the faster 'weak' forms.

Discussion

Previous Background

The previous background of the students matter a lot. The student I interviewed was from Bulgaria. Although she had learned English at her school for a period of eight years, but her learning were mainly based on vocabularies, not on English grammar. She had no idea about how to properly use the articles. She found English writing very difficult, because she had confusions in the use of tenses, especially past tense. Most of the foreign students face the issues in communicating with their fellow students. During her past studies, she used to learn English as a foreign language. She had little fluency in the spoken English. She had learned a lot from her father as he is very good at English language. She has moved to UK along with her whole family.
