The first part of this chapter looks at capital investment levels and outputs achieved. There has been substantial increase in capital investment in the fire services since 2000, following more modest investment over the previous two decades. There has been significant investment in the construction of fire stations, in enhancing the appliance fleet and in developing the Computer Aided Mobilization Project. The chapter also looks at relative current spend on fire services, population served by fire authorities, cost per capita as well as revenue generation at local level.
