Background

Albion Ceramics, constructor of high rank ceramic tableware and decorative things, established a high status since its base in 1730. Today's comparable position appears to be to weak and some change is required in alignment that the business remain in the market(Jack 1999). The new chief boss expects that a new automotive way of constructing could be the essence of their renew(Greasley 1997). The study of this case will start by establishing a full appraisal of the task, then commenting the risk and uncertainties conveyed by the task, before assessing the present organisation to organise the change and finally by interpreting how the formation of a contract before the implementation could help the company to decline the dangers involved. This study will lead to glimpse how smart the project is(Lock 1996).

Project Scope

The setting up of automation is a new way of Manufacturing for Albion Ceramics; the Company is not utilised to work that way. The task is like a one-off in Albion because even if it could be reused subsequent in other Albion's plant, their production is different. This is not habitually protected and assets are transient so Albion has to be very careful in the way the business wants to implement the project.

According to Albion, it appears that there is a valuable market demand and business need for June 2003. That can give Albion a sort of hold up and they furthermore should be aware that the robot may not be accessible at this early date. How will the construct be done? Will the present way of constructing be sufficient for this demand? Albion should not rely too much on the robot so shortly if they have just been informed of this opportunity(Pete 1997). The robot must be a valuable answer not only because there is a gigantic demand in a couple of months but furthermore because Albion anticipates other demand which will make them more competitive.

The Organisation

The present administration of Albion is hierarchical and democratic with the heritage of 'them and us'. Employees make their job and there is no repsonse, the connection is poor, insufficient to permit the business apply the change in good conditions. Moreover, Albion has lately closed one of its other plant, it bring to the employee the feeling that something wrong is happening.
