Abstract

Expert power is derived from the skills or expertise of some people and the needs that the organization or society have. Unlike the other categories, this type of power is usually very specific and limited to the particular area in which the expert is qualified. If your team sees you as a true expert, will be more responsive when you need to give it all for you, and it will be easier to motivate. If you perceive your experience, believe that you have the wisdom to lead them. If team members believe in your ability to judge, they trust you and respond to any changes prickly. Introduction

Expert power is the ability of influencing others on the basis of experience, expertise and knowledge for influencing or changing the behavior of others in the organization. The following paper elucidates the concept of expert power in detail by first analyzing the types of power, then detailing expert power and how the tools can be utilized for achieving the overall objectives of the team/organization.

Charismatic power - This type of power is usually found in people who share good harmony, the people we admire and those who help us generate confidence.

Hierarchial Power - It is represented by the organization where the person above maybe the boss or the manager.

Reference Power - Characteristics are so attractive that others also want to adopt them

Power of information - It is based on the possibility of obtaining necessary and important information and the ability to use it to influence subordinates. Manager strengthens his power, coordinates and controls the flow of information in the firm.

Power of persuasion - It is based on the manager's ability to influence others through effective (emotional, logical and reasoned) transfer of their point of view.

Expert Power

Expert power is based on the belief that the leader has special knowledge to get a significant result for the organization and thus meet the needs. Such power has an impact across a reasonable belief in the value of knowledge and competence (Levit, 2012). The manager is able to act as an expert in solving problems or the development and implementation of projects. To practice the expert authority, the manager must demonstrate visible achievements (Levit, 2012). The success of management depends not only on the strength of government, but also the authority of the manager, where authority is a well-deserved confidence enjoyed by the head of his subordinates, superiors and colleagues. It allows you to have a personal impact on staff (Levit, 2012).
