Introduction

Ethics is also known as moral philosophy and it is very important for the people of the modern society to involve the ethical considerations in their daily routine of work and dealing with other people. Ethics is basically concerned with the defending, systemizing and recommending the concepts of right and wrong conduct. Ethics is also related with the study of moral behavior in human beings. It is very important to understand that it is very important for the people of the society to treat everyone ethically. It will be discussed that the Christian belief empowers that every individual in the world should be treated equally and ethically. In addition to this, the actions and the legal procedure of reporting a complaint of the abuse within the prison is also presented in this paper to better understand the legal ways of handling cases that involve violation of human rights. Ethical treatment should also be provided to the prisoners because they are also humans and a part of our society (Braswell, 2011). A brief discussion is presented in this paper on the subject of ethical treatment of prisoners to understand the importance of treating the prisoners ethically.

Discussion

When we view the subject of Ethical Treatment of prisoners we have to ask the question dies such exist. It is believed by many that, Yes it does exist! Which thus poses another question, why does it exist? For many centuries people believe that ethical treatment of prisoners should not and will not exist in the normal prison settings. Why? It is simply because those who have committed crimes do deserve to be reciprocated with ethical treatment. “Prisoners no matter socio-status should be treated humanely with dignity and respect.” Throughout the years many accommodations has been addressed and made to suffice prisoners and preserve their basic human rights. On the other hand many ask the question has too much been done on this subject that life in prison has been made too easy and that prison has no longer become punishment for the behaviors at hand. Well, it must then be understood that a prisoner is actually sent to prison for the crime committed and not to be further punished.

Utilitarian Approach and the Ethical Treatment of Prisoners

Another important opinion that could be related to the ethical treatment of prisoners is the belief of Utilitarianism that is aimed for the promotion of the happiness of the members of the society by setting moral rules as choices made by the society (Mosser, 2010). It is obvious that a decision could be made by Utilitarian view that whether the prisoners are being treated in a proper way or not. This belief provides a theoretical framework for making an effective decision morally. In this approach, the effects of a decision are considered on the entire population before making a decision on a particular subject (Mosser, 2010).
