Ethical Issues

Introduction

In the context of the contemporary global social environment the ethical code of conduct is considered a crucial societal foundation. Although ethics are defined as one of the most necessary factors of the modern cosmopolitan based society, the definition and the implementation of the concept is significantly varied. Ethics can be defined a relative term which can be interpreted in different ways, relevant to the regional society. Every society has their own set of traditions and customs, which develop the comprehensive ethical code of conduct (Weiss, 1999). In this scenario the global society does not have a uniform definition for ethics, as each society is driven by different socio cultural factors. In the traditional perspective the ethical code of conduct for a given society was developed on the dominant socio religious factors which were present in the society, and this is why the majority of the global society had drastically diverse notions of ethical standards. The technological advances the regionally diverse societies to form closer links and collaboratively form a relatively uniform definition of ethics.

The phenomenon of globalization has had a crucial impact on the global perception regarding the ethical standards. Aided by technology the uniformity experienced by the global economic sector also encouraged the uniformity in the global societies. As the different regional societies enhanced their communication and interaction process, the concept of universally accepted ethical standards was developed. In the contemporary society the concept of ethics still cannot be defined as perfectly universal in nature, because in the global environment different countries have adopted various types of ethical standards. However the globalization process has helped the global societies to understand the universal aspects of the term and develop a set of ethical guidelines that could be agreed and accepted by majority of the global societies. It is due this reason that the developed countries in the global scenario have very similar ethical code of conducts, as these countries follow similar ethical ideologies. These countries have realized that the society is not developed on the perception and point of view of specified social groups, rather the modern developed society is based on the amalgamation of various groups of socio ethnically diverse individuals. In the current global environment the society has realized that the ethical standards have to be developed on objective principles and on the basis of rational thought. This process will allow the governing authorities to consider the interest of the majority of the stakeholders involved, and as a result the society would benefit from an equitable and just governing system.
