Case Studies under the light of Vanya Kovach's Model
Vanya's model is a three step process. According to Vanya's model there are different questions and by getting answers of these questions one can resolve any ethical dilemma. First of all this model would be applied to the first case study.
Honor the Cost of Philanthropy in Light of Vanya's Model
In this case, Alistair is investigating a contract in which a mammoth amount is paid to distributor of the medical kit that the organization made. The investigation reveals that this huge amount is not being paid to the distributor but it is given to the truck drivers so that it can be given to the militia who impede the truck drivers to take medicine to the areas where they are needed to be delivered. This investigation made it sure for Alistair that none of the money is going in the wrong direction. Now, the dilemma is that whether Alistair should notify that to board members or not. To solve this issue Vanya's model would be applied on this case.
Exploration
The stage of first of all asks for the problem and difficulty. In this case, the stated problem is that Alistair is confused whether he should notify it to the board that why this much high amount is being paid to the distributor.
The next question in the exploration phase of this model is about the professional obligation (Vanya, 2012). Ethics related to professional duty seems to be teleological in nature. Actions that an individual take can be determined as morally right and wrong on the basis of outcomes it produces (Andreq and Seumas, 2009). So, here if we take this theory of moral obligation to perform the duty then Alistair should take into consideration what are his responsibilities and what consequences his actions may generate. According to the information that is given in this case it can be said that the professional duty here for Alistair is to provide correct information and report accurately related to whatever is happening in his department. It is this part in which Alistair is dubious.
Third question that the phase of exploration requires to answer to solve this ethical dilemma is that what the boundaries of the role of Alistair are (Vanya, 2012). For Alistair, his boundaries would be not to interfere in other people's affair but he definitely needs to provide necessary information and he is required to hold people accountable for any illegal work ...
