Employers' restrictions on tattoos and piercings and health hazards

Employers often choose to put a large number of regulations into place for the effective implementation of infrastructure. For this purpose, employees choose to put an extensive system into place for the assurance that employees function within a code of conduct during their tenure in the organization. As social trends continue to evolve, employers choose to modify these regulations in order to meet the requirements of changing times. This paper will highlight the relevance of employer regulations with regard to the restriction on employees from getting tattoos made. Furthermore, the paper will attempt to highlight the dangers of body piercings and tattoos to the health and body, and why employers should have the right to put restrictions on piercings and tattoos in the workplace.

The general trend amongst employers is that which discourages employees from getting tattoos and body piercing. If a preliminary approach towards the study of these regulations was to be carried out, it can be observed that this is most common in cases the employees have to directly interact with customers or engage in the production of goods that require the employees to handle the goods as they are manufactured.

In cases where employees have to engage in direct interaction with consumers, employers choose to encourage their employees to adopt a somewhat sophisticated and generic approach towards their dressing and appearance. This approach is encouraged so that employees do not unknowingly offend any customer or potential customer (Jacoby 2172). In addition, this also makes the customer feel comfortable about the professionalism of the organization of which the employee is a part. This is generally true for service based organizations
