The Relative Impact of Individual Reinforcement Effect (Money), And Combined Reinforcement Effects (Money, Feedback, Social Recognition) On Improving the Task Performance of Women in the Work Place

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

Businesses today encourage their workforce to work in teams as part of the management policy to ensure greater commitment, participation, recognition and motivation. The prevailing competition among the different companies has had positive impact employees. Now, companies are moving towards implementing such rewards system that can cater to the needs of employees, who tend to perform beyond their capacities. That is why there exists a gap between levels of motivation among employees, working in different capacities. It is a fact that employees showing good performance tend to get both compensatory benefits and non-cash incentives (White, 2008). This practice continues in every organization let alone the one which is playing in the retail sector. It is a fact that without motivation, employees will not do what an organization expects from them. If an organization wants to motivate its employees, the management should come up with effective compensation plan.

Companies enjoy success in different ways such as by being profitable, competitive, and prestigious. Every company has its own vision and mission which defines the path that it has to work on and achieve all its targets and milestones. Moreover, to achieve those particular targets set by the company, it should keep motivating its employees through various gestures, compensations and benefits. These gestures definitely motivate the employees for their particular job, and as a result, they become more productive and beneficial for the organization. To bring all the above mentioned systems into practice properly, human resource management helps the company. It is a system that evaluates and ranks an employee's performance in a particular span of time. The employee is then dealt accordingly. It is a very transparent system and all employees should be introduced to it as soon as they are hired by the company.

These programs aim to encourage high performance and behaviors (Weisbord, 2007). They compensate for the personal use of concepts, principles and technical tools such as basic process compensation administration. They bring enormous benefits for the staff welfare, which eventually results positively for a company. There is a lot of emphasis on the fact that performance criterion should framed keeping in view the best practices that harness and help the development of professional skills, catering to the needs of employees. The best practices model facilitates the development of employee-centered pay structure that provides ample opportunities for the optimal development. In addition to this, companies should also concentrate on designing an incentive program, keeping in view the cultural values, personality traits, and behaviors of employees. Job performance is influenced by many factors. Performance management is “the continuous cycle of improving job performance with goal setting, feedback and coaching, and rewards and positive reinforcement”. In this study will focus on the impact of Individual Reinforcement Effect (Money) and Combined Reinforcement Effects (Money, Feedback, and Social Recognition) On Improving the Task Performance of ...
