Effects of Loss of function in Elderly People

Introduction

Living longer can comes with a price; however, having a good support system, social relationships, and living in their own home is what can provide seniors with happiness, independence, and quality of life (QoL). For seniors to have the ability to go shopping if they wish, or continue to do hobbies they enjoy (paint, puzzles, knitting, plastic model building, etc.), or activities they enjoy (walking, sing in a choir, square dance, or social visiting). All of these things, among other, provide a positive outlook for seniors, their quality of life (QoL), and independence. Independence to seniors means they have control over their life decisions, and freedom over their own action and behavior, and not be controlled, or dependent on others for their function in life. The statement “often a functional loss will begin the downward spiral in any elderly person life and it affects life's quality and the person's independence” completely defend its meaning, as functional loss directly affects the controls of adults over their life decisions and personal independence. The paper will discuss the effects of functioning loss in human body and justify the statement that mostly loss of function grows with growing age of a person. Therefore the study defines component of this disorder in adults (Janssen et.al, 2002).

The old age considering the physical, mental and social, i.e. the integral view, it is inevitable for any intervention from the health area. It is precisely the state of physical functioning, mental and social, the key concept of quality of life in old age. The challenge is then ...
