Introduction

The Virginia Coastal Long Term Ecological Research project is funded by the National Science Foundation. Project's research focuses on the mosaic of transitions and steady state system barrier-island/lagoon/mainland landscape on the east coast of Virginia. Research was held in the swamps of the mainland, the lagoon system of barrier islands and the islands themselves, especially the Hog Island.
