DYNAMIC ROUTING PROTOCOL

Dynamic Routing Protocol Performance and Enhancement between EIGRP, OSPF and RIP

Abstract

This report is an Assignment as a part of RPM-1 module. This review is based on the analysis of various recent researches conducted on routing protocol. The prime objective of this research is to examine the consequences of organizing EIGRP, OSPF and RIP simultaneously on a network. The analysis of the performances of these routing protocols can be performed by using network simulating tools.

MSc Proposal

What's your MSc Project's topic, as specific as possible

This report is an Assignment as a part of RPM-1 module. The topic is Dynamic Routing Protocol performance and enhancement between EIGRP, OSPF and RIP.

What problem is your MSc Project going to address?

The consequences of organizing EIGRP, OSPF and RIP simultaneously on a network. The analysis of the performances of these routing protocols by using network simulating tools.

What are the objectives of your MSc Project?

The main objective of this project is to compare the functioning of different parameters and their performed on the network with different routing protocols.

What's your MSc Project's Technical Route, e.g.

What's the technical scheme / approach, any mathematic model or algorithm?

What experimentations or simulations will be undertaken

What toolkit/platform will be employed

While studying different research papers it is found that various statistical methods are implemented there. It is very important to understand variability of data in different circumstances. The major parameters in any network are the basic focus of this project including minimum performance, average performance and maximum performance. All these are evaluated with the help of statistical techniques. Furthermore graphs and their representation are properly designed in order to discuss and explain the implemented statistical techniques.

What's your MSc Project's validation

How to Prototype

What Scenarios, and/or case studies will be Simulated or Experimented

Regarding network it can be said that scenario is the basic framework that covers all the aspects of related issue. All entities with their specified characteristics are placed and their collaboration is then studied in detail. When the scenario of network is focused then it ultimately includes layers and each layer has standards and services which are described as protocols. The layers are the concept of services while concrete implementation is little different from the defined abstraction. The scenario is also an idea of real life problem.

What Outcomes/Results are expected

What contribution will your MSc Project achieve after all, for instance,

Re-implement or re-configure something?

Modify something & re-validate?

As a future work, this model can be implemented in real time to gain more accurate and realistic results. IPv6 would be considered as a predominant in the future; these protocols can be tested in IPv6 version. For an effective performance the security issues of these protocols can be considered for conducting future work.
