Abstract

Organizations in the present scenario are characterized as one having employees who belong to different cultures, social groups, have different beliefs, values, opinion, preferences and require that the management acknowledges their differences and provide them with equal employment opportunities. Human Resource managers play an effective role in the development of strategies and policies that cater the issue of workforce diversity in a highly changing workforce environment. This research paper is written with an objective to highlight the way company develops a non-discriminative and productive workforce covering the issues that may affect that diversity. In addition, the paper also emphasizes that in the scenario of changing workforce how the HR manager can create strategies and policies to handle the workforce diversity issues.

Introduction

One of the important components that remain associated with the key principles of the international community is the non-discriminatory and productive workforce that has an access to equal opportunities. These concepts have strong roots in the universal principles for humanity rights, equality and fundamentals of freedom. The prevalent trend in the emerging markets witness that the companies that seek to set examples of corporate social responsibility and want to be a leader while building a productive and diverse workforce must have the potential to address the workforce diversity issues in the workplace. Businesses that remain successful in doing so assertively take actions to eliminate discriminatory practices prevalent within their organizations and thus generate the conditions for diversity and equal opportunity for the employees. An important part in making the strategies to cater the needs of the diverse workforce is played by the Human Resource Manager that ultimately provides the organizations with a number of benefits. In this research paper the issue of diversity in the workforce is highlighted by emphasizing the role of the organization along with the Human Resource manager to make policies and strategies that enable the adoption and changing the workforce within the organization.

Workplace discrimination issues might appear in number of forms and can have a considerable impact in access to employment as well as the employee treatment once the job is provided (International Finance Corporation, 2006).
