According to the final teen birth rates of 2011, the state of New York was on 44th rank out of 51. These rates were about the females who were between the ages of 15 to 19. Similarly, the state is on 18th rank out of 51, and this rating was about pregnancies in females who were of age 15-19 in the year 2008 (Kost & Henshaw, 2013).

Risk factors Environmental Risk Factors The investigation regarding the pregnancy in teenage indicates that many environmental factors are related to increased rates of pregnancy. For instance, there is a strong relation between the teen neighborhood and teen pregnancy. The teens who live in the neighborhood are at higher risk of pregnancy if they have a low level of education, high level of poverty and high residential turnover (Coley & Lansdale, 1998). The young adults who belong to less educated, poor and single parent families have a higher risk of pregnancies (Coley & Lansdale, 1998). Similarly, the teenage girls who are the daughter of a teenage mother are also at higher risk of pregnancies. The study of British National Child developmental survey has indicated that the daughters of the women who have been a teenage mother will also give birth to a child in their teenage (O'Conner, 1997). The females with limited family support and supervision also become pregnant in their teenage (Kirby, 1997).
Personal Risk Factors There are many different risk factors that are involved in teen pregnancy. Apparent factors include aggressive behavior, poor performance in school, dating at a young age, dating older partners and drug and alcohol abuse.
