Abstract

It is important to keep in mind that the research focus on the extent the rise of Islamic terrorism in the Middle East was a result of US foreign policies. Of this it is important to have a look at what Islam is, and how the world perceives it. Islam is an Abrahamic religion centred on the Quran which is the collection of the words of God revealed to the holy prophet Muhammad, considered by Muslims as the last prophet of God. The word "terrorism" (and "terrorist" and "terrorize") first appeared in France during the French Revolution during (1789-1799), when the government Jacobin led by Robespierre executed or imprisoned opponents, without respecting the guarantees of due process. Considering this, we fail to reject H0 = Islamic terrorism in the Middle East was a result of US foreign policies (Boren, 1999).

CHAPTER 01: INTRODUCTION

It is important to keep in mind that the research focus on the extent the rise of Islamic terrorism in the Middle East was a result of US foreign policies. Of this it is important to have a look at what Islam is, and how the world perceives it. The religion itself is very different in comparison to how it is portrayed and associated to in the media. In addition to this, the study will shed light on what terrorism is, and what type of terrorism exists in reference to religious groups. Finally the paper refers to the US foreign policies in reference to Muslims resulting in the increase in terrorism especially after the Soviet invasion in Afghanistan (Rice, 2000).

Islam

Islam is an Abrahamic religion centered on the Quran which is the collection of the words of God revealed to the holy prophet Muhammad, considered by Muslims as the last prophet of God. A follower of Islam is called a Muslim and Islam has its foundation and the main teaching as tawhid (monotheism, uniqueness), that is to say, it boasts the most pure monotheism where worship ...
