Disasters are unpredictable and lead to a change in the way of living until the area recovers from them. The recovery phase is one of the most important phases in a disaster. After the initial response, the recovery team starts planning immediately even as the initial response is in progress. The importance of the recovery plan being implemented as soon as possible is directly linked to the relief being provided to the locality. Any delay in the implementation of the recovery efforts will directly affect the disaster and can even increase its adverse effects. The recovery team should always be ready to tackle the issues (Aldrich, 2012, pp. 49). The situation at hand calls for a quick response because the temperature is soaring and without electricity, the residents will be facing a tough task to organize their work. The following areas need to be looked into by the disaster recovery team.

Provision of Risk Control

The primary task of the disaster recovery team is to provide risk control solution to every department and to coordinate with them in the recovery efforts. In order for this to be a success, communication between all the departments is the key. Without proper communication and coordination, any relief effort will go in vain.

In this case, as soon as the electricity goes out, the police department should be the first to be notified since the chances of burglary incidents will increase. Medical services should also be notified to remain vigilant since then chances of cases arising from the intense heat will likely to be increase.
