4.1 Pre-natal gender

The prenatal gender testing is one of the most accurate forms of identifying if the gender of the baby the mother has in her womb. There are two main ways through which the gender is determined. It can be done through chromosome tests or the hormone tests. In the chromosome test, if the X chromosome is detected in the blood sample which is taken from the mother, it is an indication of the fact that the child is a female; on the other hand, the presence of Y chromosome in the fetus is an indication of a male child. In the hormonal test, it is evaluated whether the baby is under most proximity of the male hormones or the female hormone. The proximity of the respective hormone has been seen to influence the gender of the child to be the same as itself. So it can be said if the male hormone will be is in proximity to the fetus, the child would be a boy and vice versa.

4.2 Pre-natal testosterone

In the abstract mentioned given regarding the 2D:4D ratio. It implies the amount of androgens which were exposed to the fetus during its' development. Higher numbers of androgens result in a longer ring finger or the 4D, signifying a masculine' personality or mind frame while vice versa also holds true. With this finding, it may be possible to determine if the individual might suffer from heterosexual or homosexual orientation, etc.

4.3 Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (AIS)

Androgen insensitivity syndrome is a disorder of genetics which is found in babies. It is a resistance of the fetus to the androgens in the womb. Because of which the baby is unable to form male reproductive organs. This results in the baby developing or growing along the lines of the female, developing a vagina or having his testicles in his abdomen.

4.4 Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH)

The CAH is a group of disorders which are inherited of the adrenal gland. The adrenal glands are located near the kidneys and are responsible for producing hormones, cortisol and aldosterone. Because of this problem, the body produces more androgens or male hormones, thereby upsetting the balance of hormones in the body, resulting in girls with menstruation problems, excessive hair growth and other masculine qualities.

4.5 The Olympic struggle over sex

I am convinced to be of the Anatomist position because sports competition can be seen simply as a test of body's fitness. It is fair that the body's who are competing with one another are alike or have chemical or gender similarities. It would be unfair for women to compete with men in a constant of strength and endurance because of the genetic makeup of both. When keeping that fact in mind, women suffering from CIAS or CAH should certainly be separated because even though it might be a medical condition, however, it still provides them with an unfair advantage. The case of Spanish hurdler Maria Patinois one which has come into light because of the AIO's ...
