a. Which of the 4 basic qualitative approaches do you think the authors approach most closely resembles?

The approach identified in this qualitative article is the inductive approach as it uses a generalized data and theory and was used to analyze certain aspects of the larger population - urban community mental health clinics.

b. Describe the primary data collection method used?

The primary data collection method used in this particular study was by way of focus groups. The focus groups were interviewed in detail and probe questions were used to stimulate discussion on the issue at hand. Furthermore, interviews were conducted and codified from the focus group.

The content analytic technique was used to code the transcripts after which a comparative analysis was carried out of the open coding units.
