Introduction

The research on democratic regimes is directed towards the making of stable democracies. There are different hypothesis regarding different political and social factors that shape democracies. The research conducted in this area is based on the assumption that democratic regimes are weak. This assumption has been made because of different factors. One of the most important factors is the frightening experience of the descent of European democracies into fascism and communism. The fragility of democratic regimes is also evident in the less developed parts of the world. The central argument behind these perceptions and assumptions is the tradition of political philosophy (Case, 1996).
