Introduction

Niccolo Machiavelli is a very renowned and widely accepted writer of his era. His works portray shared cultural history that gives way to intellectual advancements. Although his works have hidden connotations and excess amount of multiple meanings, even then they are accepted and used by different authors and recognized by historic people. People use it as a reference and create their conceptions of mythology on the basis of his works. Machiavelli is admired by many people because of his works on intellectual history. He has created drafts in historiography that present an intellectual challenge to the scholars and examiners of his works. In this century, people tend to have knowledge and information about almost everything but they find it challenging to analyze the works of Machiavelli because of the concealed meanings in his creations (Makolkin, 2008).

Dante Alighieri was a poet and philosopher who produced different pieces of works during Medieval and Renaissance period. He has given various views about politics, religion and society. He has given an innovative outlook of humanity and nature. He has used Italian in his works which increases the consideration of his works. He has gripped individualism and cheerfulness in his writings that has changed the way of thinking and writing of other authors (Reinhardt, 2013).

Dante and Machiavelli build their arguments on the basis of the history and literature of Rome. Machiavelli has been successful in inspiring and fascinating many authors through his works. His works were revolutionary and thus captured the attention of many personalities including those of post-modern representatives. He has his marks in history, politics, art, philosophy and literature. Machiavelli has been popular not only in Italy, Rome but in American Culture as well. He has been cited by media very frequently and it is considered as a pride to use his principles in the post-modern political matters and journals (Makolkin, 2008). The premises expressed in 'The Prince' illustrate methods that a prince, who wants to achieve a great height, can utilize to obtain the power, or a present prince can apply to maintain his control.

However, the works of Dante shield the supremacy of a single monarch ruling rather than universal empire. This Italian poet shows political thoughts in favor of a single monarch. He emphasizes on the fact that a number of princes and kings who keep on struggling for power and authority can never make a peaceful place in the world. But if there will be single monarch, then peace will be easily attainable. He talks about distinct authority that one should have. He gave a view that the power for different matters can be given in the hands of different authorities like Emperor can have control of worldly matters whereas, pope can have power over the religious matters (Reinhardt, 2013).
